Ms. Perez's After school Clubs

Introduction

After school enrichment school clubs will give students a chance to broaden their knowledge base. Furthermore they will provide students with the opportunity to apply language arts and math skills learned in class for project based learning. In order to create life long learners, our students need to see the context for why they are learning.

Audio Visual Club

Students will use language arts skills to write a story in the form of a play. Then using the film knowledge gained throughout the after school club, students will translate the written story into visual storytelling. They will videotape and use editing software to put together a final project to be displayed at the student exhibition. Students will comment on their own work reflecting on what worked and what they feel that they could improve.

This class is open to 5th grade students. Photos coming soon!

Entrepreneurship Club

In the Entrepreneurship club, students will get an opportunity to use Language Arts and Mathematics skills to start a student run business. Students will be responsible for research and marketing and obtaining principal permission for selling by presenting the project using PowerPoint and preparing profit reports using Microsoft word and Microsoft Excel. Finally, students in the club will also run their business as a team and calculate actual revenue. Students will also reflect on the projections versus actual sales and suggest improvements to make the business run smoother. Profits will pay for an Entrepreneurship Pizza Party and provide donations to the Florence Avenue School Playground Project.
